Pokemon Go Has Special Plans For a Powerful Gen 3 Pokemon
A datamine of Pokemon Go's latest update has revealed some very interesting data about two Gen 3 [...]
Deoxys
Deoxys is a mutated alien virus transformed into a Pokemon via exposure to a laser beam. A crystal in its chest serves as both its brain and its most powerful weapon, with the ability to shoot both telekinetic blasts and devastating Hyper Beams.
Not only is Deoxys incredibly powerful, it also has four forms, a "Normal" Form and forms with maxed out stats in either Attack, Defense, or Speed. While Deoxys originally couldn't shift from form to form in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, the Pokemon gained to the ability to change when exposed to a special meteorite found in various towns in each region.
Deoxys is a weird Pokemon for several reasons. For one thing, it's the only Pokemon that technically qualifies as both a Mythical Pokemon and a Legendary Pokemon. Originally, players couldn't catch Deoxys via normal means - it was distributed just like every other Mythical Pokemon. However, Pokemon changed this in 2015 when it added Deoxys as the boss of the special post-game "Delta Episode" of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. In addition, when Pokemon distributed every Mythical Pokemon as part of its 20th anniversary celebration last year, it didn't include Deoxys.
If Deoxys is considered a Legendary Pokemon, this could mean that Pokemon Go is preparing to release it as a future raid boss. We could see Deoxys freely switch between forms OR (and we think this is more likely) we could see Pokemon Go release all four Deoxys forms as separate Raid Bosses that players need to collect.
prevnextCastform
Castform is known as the "Weather" Pokemon and changes its shape and Type based on the weather. Castform takes on the "Sunny" Fire-Type form when it's particularly hot and sunny, it becomes the Water-Type "Rainy" form when it's raining, and it turns into the Ice-Type "Snowy" form when it snows. It also has a Normal form that it takes during neutral weather.
Pokemon Go has added all of Castform's four forms, which could mean that it has plans to incorporate local weather patterns into the game, something that they've mentioned doing for quite some time. However, our guess is that Castform will shift forms based on the season. While it would be cool to see Castform shift based on the weather, it would be a lot easier to do mass shifts in the spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
prevnextNo Gen 3...Yet
While Pokemon Go is clearly prepping to release Gen 3, the new update shows that they're not ready...yet. The new update doesn't contain any sound files for any new Pokemon, which indicates that they're not going to unlock Gen 3 while this update is live. Pokemon Go has also not updated the GAME_MASTER file to include new moves and updated stats for any of the new Pokemon.
However, this update is more proof that Pokemon Go is going to add more Pokemon soon, so get prepared for a fall filled with discovering new Pokemon!
