The Keystone Rune that's supposed to be fit for bruisers and other fighters to use should give these League of Legends champions a better rune option, but it'll take a few patches before it's released.

A rune choice that's expected to be a strong option on fighters without being limited to that class, this unnamed Keystone Rune is directed at champions like Fiora and others who lack a strong Keystone Rune choice. These champs can make use of other options, but there's no go-to choice that exists like there is for many other champs. While the rune's effects are unknown, it's been said that it's already in internal testing.

However, it'll be some time before players are able to try the rune themselves. More information on the rune will likely come from Riot Games in the form of posts on the boards that explain the new rune, but as far as actually trying it, players will have to wait until Patch 8.5 to try it on the PBE and even longer after that to use it in a real game.

"The new keystone we're working on (which should be a good choice on a lot of fighters, but isn't a fighter specific keystone) won't be ready for 8.4 unfortunately," Riot Meddler said in response to a question about the Keystone Rune. "We'd hoped it would, but it hasn't been working as hoped. Aiming for 8.6 as a result, hopefully PBEing during the 8.5 cycle to get additional feedback."

The rune itself was confirmed to be in the testing phase on Jan. 10 and was announced even before that, so some didn't take Meddler's answer well and wondered what was taking so long for the rune to come to PBE. Meddler responded to those questions as well and talked about the PBE process by explaining that putting things on the PBE when they're took early in development and could still receive big changes leads to let down, disappointment, and all kinds of unfulfilled expectations, the full PBE response seen here.

The new Keystone rune won't be usable for some time, but expect to see more updates on its developments as we move closer to Patch 8.6.
