Wolverine is about to turn up in some surprising places.
Wolverine’s appearances begin in January in Captain America #697, The Mighty Thor #703, and Amazing Spider-Man #794.
Wolverine apparently died in the Death of Wolverine event in 2014. He reemerged at the end of Marvel Legacy #1 earlier this year and came into possession of one of the Infinity Stones.
Marvel teases that the stories in these “after credits scenes” will begin to reveal how Wolverine escaped his adamantium tomb, why he was on the hunt for an Infinity Stone, and what the secret Logan is hiding is.
“Fans have been speculating about Wolverine’s whereabouts since he first reappeared in Marvel Legacy #1—and the Marvel Universe is left just as unaware!” teased SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort said in a statement. “So keep your eyes peeled as Canada’s favorite citizen makes his presence felt in titles all across the Marvel line! It’s all leading to something—but what?”
"Mystery has always been part of Wolverine's DNA,” added senior editor Mark Paniccia. “He's one of Marvel's most interesting and popular characters. Fans are going to have a helluva ride finding out where he's been and how he came back.”
Wolverine is apparently just one piece of a much larger story brewing in the Marvel Universe. The character and his Infinity Stone was featured alongside Star-Lord and Captain Marvel on the Infinity teaser released last week.
Wolverine involvement in a larger story was also hinted at by Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso when Logan’s resurrection was revealed.
"Yes, Logan is back from the dead," Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso told ComicBook.com. "After three years of a Logan-free Marvel Universe, Logan is back, claws popped and ready for action. How he came back, why he came back, and just how he came into possession of that Infinity Stone are part of a fascinating story that's going to unveil soon, and in some unusual places."
The story begins in January.
