Though Marvel Studios and DC Films are box office competitors, people from both sides tend to support their rival projects.

And now Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is thanking those involved with Justice League for "supporting" his film, thanks to a clever reference he saw in the movie's poster. Check it out in the tweet below.

Now, of course Waititi is joking. He tends to do that from time to time. But he does echo support for the film just like Kevin Feige, who expressed excitement for the film and how Justice League's success is good for everyone.

But the new film from Warner Bros. is actually having a tough go in the domestic box office, though it did well in international markets.

Justice League made just $96 million stateside, the lowest opening weekend yet for a DC Films production. Man of Steel opened to $116.6 million, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earned $166 million in its first weekend, Suicide Squad earned $133.7 million in its opening weekend, and Wonder Woman made $103.2 million in its opening weekend.

However, Justice League's $185 million international haul bumps its worldwide total to $279 million.

In comparison, Thor: Ragnarok opened to $122 million domestically and $308.3 million overseas, earning the movie $431 million total after its premiere weekend.

The near $150 million difference will likely sting for Warner Bros. executives, who were worrying about their big superhero team-up film being outpaced by Marvel's solo film.

But Waititi isn't one to ignore support from his peers, whether it's accurate or not. While some might take his pointing out a *air quotes* 'subliminal message' as a dig, he's likely just having some fun with the awesome Alex Ross-inspired poster for Justice League.

Thor: Ragnarok recently crossed over $700 million worldwide in just its third weekend, and is currently playing in theaters.

Justice League is also playing in theaters now.
