Although Riverdale is currently in the middle of a two-week break, the back half of the season is shaping up to be filled with plenty of drama, if the latest synopsis is any indication.

The CW has released an official synopsis for 'La Grande Illusion', the ninth episode of Riverdale's first season. The episode, either coincidentally or deliberately, shares the same name as a famous 1930s war film, which could indicate some intense situations in the episode.

The episode brings together Archie Andrews and Cheryl Blossom under what sounds like some pretty interesting circumstances. Meanwhile, both Veronica and Hermione Lodge have to deal with respective drama surrounding the family's matriarch, Hiram.

You can check out the full synopsis below:

ULTERIOR MOTIVES — Archie (KJ Apa) reluctantly agrees to escort Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) to her family's official start of maple syrup tapping because he gets an offer that could help his future. Archie starts to become skeptical of the real reason the Blossoms are so eager to help him, however he gets some helpful information for Betty (Lili Reinhart) about her sister.

Veronica (Camila Mendes) is trying to be nice, and unbeknownst to her, befriends a classmate that her father's illegal doings has hurt. Hermione (Marisol Nichols) is conflicted about telling Fred (Luke Perry) the truth. Meanwhile, Alice (Madchen Amick) is ready to get revenge on the Blossoms once and for all with the help of her two daughters.

Cole Sprouse also stars. Lee Rose directed the episode written by James DeWille. Original airdate 4/6/2017.

If you're curious just how the Blossom family drama could come to fruition in this episode, we have a pretty detailed theory that could possibly come into play.

The acclaimed drama, which reinvents the world of Archie Comics with a Twin Peaks twist, has overcome middling Nielsen ratings to be a hit on the strength of a dedicated fan base, massive social media success, critical love, and a first-look deal between Archie and Warner Bros. Television that promises to develop more new shows.
