Today, a trailer for the rest of Arrow’s season hit the Internet and, not surprisingly, folks […]

There are some big reveals in here, partially because of the nature of the trailer being one for the last five episodes and partially just because anytime you get enough Arrow cast members with their shirts off in one place, people get excited.

So…what did we spot? What did we miss? You know the drill…

failed this city

Is this a known catchphrase in universe? If not, that guy on the bottom right has the most unintentionally-ironic protest sign ever.

Merlyn

It’s Merlyn who tells Oliver “your days as The Arrow are over.” That’s something I’ve suspected for a while, but it’s a lot easier to identify the voice in this longer version of the monologue than it was in the version from Paleyfest, which was basically just that one statement. He continues to push Oliver to accept Ra’s al Ghul’s offer, in spite of (or perhaps because of) the fact that Ra’s seems to have lost all interest in Merlyn.

We see him with Oliver later in the trailer, or at least apparently with Oliver, launching an invasion of Nanda Parbat. So clearly his role still isn’t over yet. But with little left to lose (his daughter won’t talk to him anymore and even if Ra’s gives up the blood debt, it’s unlikely Nyssa will ever stop hunting him), one has to wonder how trustworthy Merlyn is.

And of course, there’s the greater question of whether his days as the Arrow really are over. Roy’s sacrifice would mean very little if Oliver were to just turn around and continue Arrowing, after all. Maybe that could explain his new, stealthier costume in this trailer and the one from The Flash.

So we get to see that Ray/The Atom gets recruited to help out Team Arrow — and he’s way excited to do it. What exactly he’s doing…? Hard to say. Certainly it sounds from context as though Ollie is handing off the city to Ray (who presumably can keep away from the cops much easier, and/or use his beloved public profile and bags of money to stay in the good graces of the public) to protect.

Trying to save Roy

Everyone is trying to save Roy in their own way; Oliver wants to get him out of prison, while Lance comes right out and says he’s trying to save him — an overture Roy rejects.

Whether Roy will die, go to prison or flee, it seems likely that he won’t be around much for the rest of the season, since actor Colton Haynes has been social media-ing from home with his family. This, combined with the intense focus on his character in this trailer, will likely make people pretty worried about the outcome of “Broken Arrow,” where executive producer Marc Guggenheim has teased that “someone will die.”

It certainly looks based on the backgrounds that when Oliver and Felicity finally do the deed, it’s in Nanda Parbat, of all places.

This probably shows that Felicity took her mom’s advice to heart, and the fact that Ray seems happy to work with Oliver later is interesting, probably suggesting that he’s just such an irrepressibly nice guy that he takes it pretty well.

That said…sex on Ra’s al Ghul’s bed? Hmm…

Quick cuts

We get a number of quick cuts: Thea dropping a wine glass, apparently because Ra’s al Ghul is in her home; something that looks like the ESU team storming the Foundry; the prison fight where Roy is taking on a handful of guys.

We see Ray flying — and then we see what looks like Oliver and Ray either sparring or, perhaps more likely, Oliver helping Ray to use the armor by remote.

What looks like a woman’s legs — and not a League of Assassin woman based on the clothing and shoes — is bringing a bloody sword to bear on this soldier. Who could it be?

Our guess is that it’s Tatsu, in the flashbacks, but there isn’t much to base that on other than the fact that it’s a woman with a sword.

…And who’s this? The gut instinct from a lot of people was to think Talia, Ra’s al Ghul’s other, more famous daughter…but she looks a bit too old to be Nyssa’s contemporary. I’m thinking perhaps Lady Shiva?

It looks like Oliver is going to be branded in those last couple of shots, but in spite of being chained up, it seems unlikely to be torture. Rather, it seems like a rite of some kind, since he appears to be getting a brand that’s his own logo from the Season Three credits.

This seems like it ties into the LoA uniform seen in The Flash, as Oliver apparently will at least pretend to take on the role of the head of the League, as we hear him tell Talia/Shiva/whomever.
