Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has a brand new live-action movie coming our way right as the manga works its way through its final battles. Shonen Jump has been going through a number of changes over the last few months, and this has resulted in a bunch of its longer running series reaching their grand finales. The magazine has ended ten series through the year thus far, and even more are seemingly coming to an end as they have kicked off their own final arcs. But one series is branching out in a whole new way even as its manga readies for the end.

Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days has been spending its last few weeks working through its final arc as the final battles have been steadily set in place for the grand finale. But while the manga is fast approaching its end, Shueisha is really going all out for the franchise thanks to its success with its TV anime thus far. This includes a brand new live-action feature film now in the works, which has revealed the first look at how Sakamoto Days will be making the jump with its very first poster.
Sakamoto Days to Debut Live-Action Movie in 2026
Shonen Jump has announced that a live-action Sakamoto Days feature film is now in the works for a release during Golden Week in Japan in 2026. There have been very few details about what to expect for this new film thus far, but with it releasing in late April and early May next year it means that the film is much further along than you’d expect. It’s already a surprise to see the film announced with a special poster, but even more so to find out that it’s coming so soon on top of that.
While there are still details yet to be revealed about the production and cast behind the new Sakamoto Days movie, series creator Yuto Suzuki shared his excitement about the upcoming movie with, “SAKAMOTO DAYS is being made into a live-action film! I’ve been fantasizing since elementary school about what would happen if I went on a rampage like this in the real world. And now, it’s finally coming to the screen! I’m so excited about it! When Is Sakamoto Days Going to End?
As for when Sakamoto Days is going to actually end, that’s still very much up in the air. Taro Sakamoto and the others have started to get into their own one on one fights heading into the grand finale, so there’s really no guessing as when it will actually wrap up. Some of the series in the magazine have gotten to have lengthy final arcs before they ended, but then there are some other recent examples like Mission: Yozakura Family that were almost seemingly forced to speed through their final battles.
Sakamoto Days also wrapped up a very successful TV anime run this Summer, but there’s still a wonder about when it will be returning for a new batch of episodes. This has all worked together to push the franchise’s popularity to new heights, and the release of this live-action film might be scheduled around the anime or manga’s future to help get to to that next level.
