First and foremost, Overwatch players will notice a few new items have been added to the game’s loot boxes. While the boxes themselves will also get a new look, Blizzard has added several new cosmetic items such as, “sprays, emotes, highlight intros, player icons, and skins โ even a few legendary skins.” Whether you buy or earn a loot box, gamers will find at least one Summer Games item within it. What’s more is that these exclusive pieces aren’t available for credit purchases, so players have to fork up a few bucks to secure their sought-after memorabilia. But, if you’re short on cash at the moment, no worries! The game will host these items until the Olympics close on August 22nd.
As for actual gameplay, Overwatch is even adding a brand-new brawl for gamers to enjoy. Entitled Lรบcioball, the game will showoff Overwatch’s unique spin on soccer as it puts gamers in a “fast-paced, 3v3 [soccer] match featuring Lรบcio.”
In a blog post, the folks over at Overwatch explained that, “Understanding how Lรบcio’s abilities affect the ball is the key to mastering Lรบcioball. For this brawl, his primary fire has been replaced with a melee attack, allowing Lรบcio to punch the ball โ perfect for dribbling, passing, and shooting from short range. When you need to launch the ball across the map, Lรบcio’s secondary attack emits a blast of sound that gets the job done nicely.”
So far, this is Overwatch‘s very first season event since its release earlier in May. The team teases, however, that “there are more on the horizon…you can expect to see more limited-edition Loot Box items, maps, and modes in the future.”
