Yesterday, fans of Labyrinth weren’t too pleased to hear that TriStar had worked out a deal with The Jim Henson Company to produce a new film based on the property. Especially since the news came less than two weeks after David Bowie, who played Jareth the Goblin King in the 1986 cult classic, passed away.

Today, screenwriter Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel) took to social media to assure fans that the new Labyrinth movie is in good hands, won’t be a reboot and that the timing of the announcement wasn’t done to cash in on the recent death of the legendary British rocker.
“Not ‘rebooting’ anything, guys,” Perlman tweeted. “Henson Co & I started talking in late 2014, so the timing of these rumors is so upsetting. I would never seek to profit from Bowie’s death. Labyrinth is my favorite film from childhood, so I share your concerns that any continuation of the world be handled with love and respect.”
