The Force Awakens is a runaway train at the box office, and not even Spidey can stop it!
Disney box office analysts have informed Deadline that the newest Star Wars film is currently on pace to claim the all-time Monday record at the North American box office. Just this afternoon, The Force Awakens picked up $17 million to $22 million and should finish the day with $30 million-plus.

If that figures holds, The Force Awakens will end up crushing the all-time Monday champ, Spider-Man 2’s $27.6 million, like a bug. Spider-Man 2, which starred Tobey Maguire and was directed by Sam Raimi, has held that record since July of 2004. Other notable Monday figures include 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with $26.8 million and earlier this year Jurassic World scooped up $25.3 million.
In this continuation of the Star Wars saga, balance returns to the Force as the First Order, emerging from the ashes of the Empire, clashes with the Resistance, which includes scrappy newcomers as well as heroes from the former Rebel Alliance.
