In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan played Martha and Thomas Wayne, the loving and ill-fated parents of Bruce. They lovingly stared into each other’s eyes as they slowly passed away from their gunshot wounds. But in The Walking Dead, their characters, Maggie and Negan, have an adversarial relationship, and in their first face-to-face encounter, they shot daggers at each other as Negan played a twisted game of “Eeny Meeny Miny Moe.”

Fans of both franchises never seem to tire of commenting or creating memes โ€” some funny, some not so funny โ€” pointing out the random coincidence.

Even when Huffington Post interviewed Cohan, they had to bring up the connection.

HP: You and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) play Batman’s parents in “Batman v Superman.” What? How did that happen?

Lauren Cohan: I know. It was so random. This was before he was cast as Negan because we shot the film almost two years ago.

HP: Wow, so you had no idea?

Lauren Cohan: No, and we knew it would be crazy, too. Because once he was cast, he came out to set and we were just laughing because the context of which we worked together last time and then the context of this just couldn’t be more different.

Season 7 of The Walking Dead will debut next October.
