Battlefield 1's next big expansion called In the Name of the Tsar has been teased for some time now, and during EA Play, we've finally gotten a more in-depth look at the upcoming DLC that has become known for its focus on the Russian forces, specifically the inclusion of female soldiers from the Women's Battallion of Death.

Discussed during E3's EA Play conference, this expansion features the story behind the Russian female soldiers during World War I and will be accompanied by the addition of a female Scout multiplayer class. The Women's Battalion of Death is a prime opportunity to add such a class, however, as the historical creation of the all-female forces was a controversial decision during World War I, a strategy by the Russian government to both bolster and inspire their forces. When the news was announced that female soldiers were being added, it was met with some debate as to the historic accuracy of the decision, but many players welcomed the addition and the diversity.

Along with the new soldiers, there are maps, weapons, and new vehicles to be found with the In the Name of the Tsar expansion. Fans have speculated on what weapons might be included in the game since the team strives for historical accuracy, and many expressed hopes that weapons such as the Mosin–Nagant and the Parabellum MG14 LMG would make their way into the game.

Of course, you have to have somewhere to use all of these new weapons and vehicles, and Battlefront 1 is giving players several new maps to test out the additions. Two of the maps being added are called Nivelle Nights and Prise de Tahure. There are also six more maps planned to be released with the In the Name of the Tsar expansion.

The expansion follows the last big piece of DLC for Battlefield 1, They Shall Not Pass, the French-focused expansion that was released in March.

Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar will be released in September.
