Eve Online Goes Mobile - Details on Project Aurora

It's official Eve Online fans, the amazing space title is making its way over onto mobile devices according to developer CCP. The portable title will be available for both iOS and Android devices and will be known as Project Aurora.

The upcoming mobile title comes from a partnership between CCP and PlayRaven and will be free-to-play. For those Eve Online players, this will provide a different kind of experience set within the same universe found in the base game. With previous mobile versions of popular games, it almost seemed like a cheap grab for the app market but from the information release, it seems to be very true to the source material.

"For years and years we have wanted to bring the EVE Universe to mobile devices in a way that is tailored to the platform and EVE fans. We wanted to find a partner who is passionate about EVE, has a track record of producing high quality and deep mobile games and is capable of creating completely new experiences on mobile. PlayRaven fit the bill perfectly."

The massively multiplayer mobile title promises powerful battles and worthy goals according to the team:

"In Project Aurora, players must work together to dominate the center of the galaxy, and become the most powerful corporation in the universe. Project Aurora will be a massively multiplayer​ ​mobile​ ​universe,​ ​filled​ ​with​ ​epic​ ​player​ ​stories."

For those that may be a little unfamiliar with the source game, the official game description for Eve Online explains the adventure:

"EVE Online is a game where history is written by the players in a universe of unrivaled beauty, depth and opportunity. Become one with your ship and embark on a story of industry, exploration and conquest as you weave your legend into the fabric of New Eden.

There is no release date set at this time, though a 2018 window has been given.
