Bungie just unleashed an incredible, highly cinematic new trailer for the Destiny 2's first expansion, Curse of Osiris. The trailer debuted during Sony's PlayStation media showcase at Paris Games Week, and you can watch it above. Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris will launch on December 5.

From the trailer we learn that a new threat has emerged on Mercury, where we'll be returning to investigate a mysterious new gate that has been opened by the Vex, which is unleashing malevolent forces from the past and the future. These forces, these machines, aim to completely reshape the galaxy, and you better believe that we're not a part of that future. There's only one figure, a man (or myth) standing in their way: Osiris.

Osiris acts as a kind of all-powerful and highly dangerous free agent, neither friend or foe. He was banished from the proximity of The Tower after his actions threatened its inhabitants, but now he may be the only one able to stop the Vex threat. You will be journeying to Mercury to find Osiris, and persuade him to join you -- or will you be asking him to allow you to join with him?

Curse of Osiris represents the first of two main expansions currently planned for Destiny 2, and will focus acutely on Ikora. Though we didn't see anything mentioned in the trailer we assume that with the addition of new areas we'll also see new maps added to the Crucible as well; it is an expansion, after all. We'll have more on Curse of Osiris as we approach the launch date, which is right around the corner. Stay tuned!
