The Duskbloods First Network Test Canceled by FromSoftware

FromSoftware has been forced to cancel the first session for its ongoing Network Test for The Duskbloods as a result of issues with the game’s servers. As of today, FromSoftware is putting The Duskbloods into the hands of players for the first time ahead of its upcoming release. And while countless fans who gained access to the Network Test for The Duskbloods have been thrilled to jump in, the game is sadly already running into problems.

In a message posted to social media, FromSoftware announced that it has had to conclude its testing phase for The Duskbloods today. The studio didn’t provide extensive details on what was wrong, but merely stated that the servers were having issues that needed to be resolved. As a result, anyone hoping to play the game in this beta form will have to continue waiting.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to those who were waiting for the first The Duskbloods network test due to game server issues. We regret to inform you that today’s session is now closed,” FromSoftware said. “We will continue to work on improving the servers and will announce future schedules at a later date.”

The puzzling thing about FromSoftware’s message is whether or not the entire Network Test for The Duskbloods has been scrapped, or merely the session planned for August 21st. While the studio initially says that it was only today’s play period that was canceled, it concludes the statement by saying that it will provide new information on a future schedule for the Network Test soon. This potentially implies that the entirety of the Network Test could be moved to another weekend if FromSoftware cannot resolve these server troubles soon.

In all likelihood, FromSoftware will spend the rest of today trying to fix these server issues to see if it’s able to hold another Network Test tomorrow and through the weekend. If these problems cannot be fixed, more communication from the developer should come about before the end of the day to make clear what can be expected from The Duskbloods in the days ahead. And while this entire situation might be disappointing to many who were eager to play The Duskbloods for themselves, this entire situation is precisely why FromSoftware was holding a testing phase like this in the first place, to ensure that the game’s full launch goes much more smoothly.

The Duskbloods currently remains without a release date, but it is broadly planned to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 platforms before the end of 2026. A recent report asserted that the game will be arriving near the end of September, but this date has yet to be verified by Nintendo or FromSoftware just yet.
