League of Legends players will soon find themselves with a bit higher CS each game when Riot Games improves the last hitting mechanic soon.

Last hitting remains a core part of League, and its significance can't be stated enough. Even if you get stomped in lane, you can hopefully farm your way back to being relevant. Whenever you look at a pro player and wonder why he's doing so much more damage than you would with the same champion, you should probably check his CS to find the answer.

But CSing is a skill to be practiced, and there are plenty of variables to it as one League player pointed out on the game's discussion boards.

"Good CS is so much more about prediction, timing, concentration, and knowing how much damage you are going to do vs how much health the minion has and being able to hit it while trading, dodging skill shots, and looking at the mini map every 3-5 seconds consistently," the player said. "In other words, I've found damage rarely is the problem."

The player offered a suggestion along with their points about CSins and said that more leeway for your auto attack to hit a bit later or too early would be a noticeable improvement. Their comment was being directed towards Riot Meddler who responded and said that Riot actually has comething just like that in the works already.

"Funny you should mention that. We're also looking at a change that, if your damage and minion damage hit at the same frame, will ensure CS goes to you, rather than sometimes to you," Meddler replied. "Should add a little more consistency without undercutting last hitting as a skill."

The thread in question was started to ask about a new global buff on the PBE that Meddler referred to as a "general rule." The buff gives every champion +5 damage on each of their basic attacks against a lane minion to help with CSing a bit, a change that compensates for the removal of the current runes that would provide early-game base stats.

No timeframe was given on the CS improvement, but expect to see many more interesting changes leading up to the preseason.
