Swain's rework was expected to bring a ton of changes to the League of Legends champion, but one downside that wasn't anticipated was the FPS issues that the reworked champion is apparently causing.

Since Swain's release a few days ago with the rollout of Patch 8.3, many players have reported FPS issues that appeared to be connected to Swain. While some said that the FPS drops occurred when Swain ulted and others claimed that the drops would happen simply whenever Swain was on-screen, the common denominator between all these reports was that Swain seemed to be affecting games somehow.

Following these reports, Riot Games acknowledged that there does seem to be something going on with Swain and everyone's FPS, though what that is isn't clear yet. In order to get to the bottom of it, Riot Broporo created a post on the League boards that's now been pinned to the front page in order to enlist the help of players.

"Hey fam! We've started to notice some issues with FPS drops whenever Swain is in a match. Engineers have been gathering info to alleviate this as quickly as possible, but it'd be really helpful if you all could pitch in to speed things up!" Riot Broporo wrote.

To help Riot fix the issues, Riot Broporo provided a list of easy instructions that involve playing a game with Swain and sending in a support ticket.

"The steps we'll need you to do will involve making some manual changes to the game config files, but they won't impact your gameplay," Riot Broporo continued. "These steps only change what happens with the log files generated after a match is finished."

  • Navigate to C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Config and double-click the "game.cfg" file.
  • Press "select a program" and click OK. Uncheck the box at the bottom that says "always use the selected...".
  • Find Notepad and double-click it.In notepad add the following line to the [Performance] section. "LiveProfile=1"

After following these steps, the Rioter asked that players simply save the file within Notepad, play a Swain game to test FPS, and navigate to C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Logs\Performance Logs to find and attach the logs to a support ticket.

You can read the full post from Riot Broporo as well as any future updates should more information on the Swain issues be released.
