A Pokemon Sun And Moon Salazzle Event Is Coming Soon

GameStop is hosting a surprise distribution for Pokemon Sun and Moon players next month. The game store chain will distribute codes for a "battle ready" Salazzle, a unique Fire/Poison dual-type Pokemon that can only be found in the tropical Alola region.

Salazzle comes with Fake Out, Toxic, Sludge Bomb, and Flamethrower, and has the Corrosion ability that allows it to poison Pokemon of any type, including Steel and other Poison-Type Pokemon. It also comes equipped with a Focus Sash, which will prevent it from getting knocked out in one hit.

While the distribution is a bit of a surprise, it isn't exactly random. Salazzle is one of the featured Pokemon in the upcoming "Burning Shadows" expansion of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, so it seems that GameStop wants to get on the action of promoting the new card set. In recent months, many GameStop locations have increased the floorspace given to Pokemon cards as collectibles have become a growing part of the store's business plan.

The Salazzle distribution runs from August 14 to September 4, meaning that it will briefly overlap with another promotion related to Pokemon cards. The Pokemon Company is also distributing Shiny Tapu Koko via Pokemon Sun and Moon's Mystery Gift function to promote a recently released Shiny Tapu Koko box featuring an exclusive variant Pokemon card.
