A new Resident Evil release is coming next month, September 2026, ahead of Resident Evil: Veronica, the next Resident Evil remake scheduled to release sometime in 2027. And big fans of Jill Valentine, in particular, may want to check out this new release, as it stars one of the two original protagonists of the game. Jill isn’t alone, though. There is also her partner in the first game, Chris Redfield, as well as Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Rebbeca Chambers. The first four need no introduction, but for those unfamiliar with the lesser-known Rebecca Chambers, she’s been around as a secondary character since the first game, but didn’t get a playable role until Resident Evil 0.

More specifically, on September 29, 2026, the first volume of Resident Evil: Death Island will release, a new manga adaptation from Titan Comics. Upon release, the first volume will cost $12.99 if you want a physical copy of the 240-page manga. If you don’t mind a digital copy, one will be available on Amazon for a discounted price of $8.99. As for the manga itself, it’s being brought to life by manga artist Zino in collaboration with Capcom and Death Island Film Partners. If the name “Resident Evil: Death Island” sounds familiar, it is because there was a CG movie called this released in 2023. This was the fifth installment and fourth film in the animated Resident Evil series. And this manga appears to be a strict adaptation of this, though this is not definitively clarified. Titan Comics uses somewhat vague language, noting “it’s being developed from the CG animated film, Resident Evil: Death Island.” In the same synopsis, Titan Comics claims it expands the Resident Evil universe, but if it’s a strict adaptation, it is unclear how it could do this. Presumably, though, this is just a manga adaptation of the movie, not a new original story.
In it, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, and Rebecca Chambers confront a mysterious bioterror outbreak on the prison island of Alcatraz that turns the island into a gruesome battle of horror and survival. In the timeline of games, the story — which happens in 2015 — is between Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 7.
As far as we know, this is the only release between now and whenever next year the aforementioned next remake, Resident Evil: Veronica, releases, which Capcom says will bridge the gap between Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. That said, those dying for more Resident Evil will likely only have this new manga release to satiate said hunger; however, if you’ve seen the CG movie, it is unclear how much new will be here for you, if anything new at all.
