Doctor Strange Director Wants Fantastic Four To Join The Marvel Cinematic Universe

When you have a character catalog like Marvel does, it can be hard to suss out which heroes are going to make it into what project. And, of course, licensing and legal issues can make it even more difficult to bring certain superheroes to life. So far, Marvel Studios has done a bang-up job with its ever-growing cinematic universe, but fans continue to ask for additional heroes. And, now, one of the company’s favorite directors is making a case for the Fantastic Four to enter the MCU.

Recently, Scott Derrickson spoke with ScreenRant, and it was there the Doctor Strange director was asked about his wishes for the MCU. When asked which superheroes he’d like to see join next, here’s what Derrickson had to say:

“I mean, there’s a lot of discussion about Moon Knight maybe coming into the MCU. I think that’s a good idea. I dunno… Actually, scratch that answer. Here’s my answer. My answer is this: I still have hope that Fantastic Four can be properly brought into the MCU because a lot of Doctor Strange – that’s the comment I read the most during that. I love those characters and I think that they still deserve another shot at finding a true home in the MCU. I still have hope for that. That’s my honest answer.”

Of course, Derrickson’s hope is not enough to make the Fantastic Four jump ship to the MCU. 20th Century Fox holds rights to the team’s on-screen appearances, and the studio has made it clear that they have big plans for Mr. Fantastic’s gang. However, plenty of fans are skeptical about whether that promise can be delivered up. After all, the last Fantastic Four film flopped miserably at the box office, and audiences are still wondering whether 20th Century Fox can pull off a much-needed reboot at this point.
