Marvel honcho Kevin Feige has made repeated comments about Avengers: Infinity War being the end of an era for some of the actors involved with the film, but what if it also serves as a new beginning?

New set photos confirm the “new pairings” that were previously hinted at, showing Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd on set. Check them out here.

The photos look like they’re building off the separate scenes involving the two actors earlier in the week, perhaps building toward them sharing the screen later in the sequence.

It will be fun to see the tiniest thief teaming up with the Sorcerer Supreme, a lot of the set photos that have hit the public thus far are giving us strong “New Avengers” vibes. It would make sense that if something catastrophic were to happen to a lot of the main Avengers members, some of the new blood would rise to the challenge and take their place.

Rudd and Cumberbatch only recently begun their Marvel tenures โ€” Rudd is starring in the Ant-Man & The Wasp movie due next year, while Doctor Strange 2 has yet to be formally announced. Both actors have the star power to anchor future teamup movies, especially if they’re joined by Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and Tom Holland as Spider-Man.

So what do you think, are we seeing the beginnings of the next wave of Avengers? And if so, do you think any of the original members would stick around?

Avengers: Infinity War premieres in theaters May 4, 2018.

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos.
