In spite of being a worldwide phenomenon and available on streaming digital services in North America right now, Deadpool is finally making its way to Japan in June — and to celebrate, a giant statue of the Merc With a Mouth is touring the country.
The giant Deadpool was unveiled today in Osaka, per various social media reports collected by Kotaku East. Former sumo champ Akebono introduced the statue.

After Osaka, the giant Deadpool tour Nagoya and Tokyo ahead of the film’s June 1 release in Japan.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
