The world of Danny Rand is multifaceted, as he has hands in both the corporate world that centers around his father's legacy and the ancient world where he derives his power.

The Meachum family will play a big part in that world as well, consisting of father Harold (David Wenham), son Ward (Tom Pelphrey), and daughter Joy (Jessica Stroup). There aren't many details as to what their relationship to Danny (Finn Jones) will be, but it doesn't look to be exactly cordial. The three were on hand at New York Comic-Con for a panel and discussed a few details about their roles (via CBR).

"I play Harold Meachum. I play Ward's father, Harold," Wenham explained. "Harold was a business partner with Danny Rand's father. They have a corporation called Rand. He's a very wealthy, powerful individual, so that was fun to play, 'cause I'm not. In terms of the family dynamic, I think it's fine to say that the relationship between the three of them — Harold, Ward, and Joy — is complex, to say the least. It's multilayered, it's multidimensional, it's surprising and it's forever changing, depending on the circumstances. It's forever evolving. And, you know, it's a strange relationship."

Since Harold plays such an important role in Rand's company, he should feature rather heavily into the plot, and as you'd suspect, it won't be in a positive way. Later on, Wenham referenced Harold as "a villain", and was featured in an exclusive clip at the panel. In the footage, Danny and Harold meet, seemingly for the first time in awhile, and both were under the assumption that the other one was dead.

His son Ward is also based on a character from the comics, but Pelphrey was vague on details.

"Ward is a character in the comic books, but I can't say too much. I would say that we're not necessarily beholden to representing him exactly as he appears in the comic book. But it's been a lot of fun! Really dynamic material with a lot of good stuff to explore. Good partners. [Executive producer] Scott Buck did a great job staffing the writer's room and getting us good scripts."

Iron Fist is set to be one of the most ambitious projects for Marvel, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see how the studio blends the numerous elements of the Iron Fist lore.

In Marvel's Iron Fist, Danny Rand returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting his world around him with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
