Barbie Movie's Rotten Tomatoes Score Revealed

We're just days away from the Barbie movie being out into the world, after months of buzz and countless pink-hued memes and tie-in products. Early reactions to the Barbie movie have been incredibly promising thus far, and it looks like the first official reviews are matching. At the time of this writing, Barbie currently holds a 89% positive rating on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, with a total of 79 reviews so far. As Barbie gets closer to its opening weekend and more critics see the film, that number could end up fluctuating either positively or negatively. Either way, the score will probably only further add to the hype around the Greta Gerwig-helmed film, especially as it is projected for a $100+ million opening weekend at the box office.

Will There Be a Barbie Sequel?

As star and producer Margot Robbie teased in a previous interview with TIME, the possibility of a Barbie sequel is definitely open, depending on the film's box office performance.

"It could go a million different directions from this point," Robbie argued.

How Many Mattel Movies Are in the Works?

According to a new report from The New Yorker, there are a total of 45 Mattel-related movies in the process of getting made, including (but not limited to) Barney, Hot Wheels, Polly Pocket, and He-Man. Other projects that have been announced to be in development over the years include American Girl, Big Jim, Chatty Cathy and Betsy Wetsy, Magic 8 Ball, Matchbox, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots, Thomas & Friends, Uno, View-Master, and Wishbone.
