GODZILLA

Legendary Pictures were very defensive of plot points, or even the look of the monsters in their new Godzilla, for quite some time, but it now seems that with only a short time before the movie roars into theaters, it's time to change tactics and give fans a little more of a sense for the movie. The first screenings have already been held (we'll have a review as soon as the embargo is lifted on our coverage), and tomorrow will see much of the film's early press as the filmmakers and cast will meet with reporters in New York, so expect to hear quite a bit about the revival of the sixty-year-old King of Monsters this week. You can check out four new clips in support of the film before, featuring Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. They've all been assembled under one YouTube account by the folks at JoBlo and assembled by CBM. Obviously, there are some minor spoilers in this. Probably no more than you could glean from a trailer, but be warned. You're about to watch four minutes or so of the movie and there's no sense in complaining that WATCHING PART OF THE FILM spoiled you. Directed by Gareth Edwards, Godzilla will hit U.S. theaters on May 16, just a week before Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. It's likely to be the #1 movie sandwiched between two comic book movies if X-Men performs, as the huge opening by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this weekend suggests it probably won't lose the #1 spot its second week of release, unless one of the mainstream titles (Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return and Chef seem the most likely candidates) overperforms.
