Nicolas Cage has starred in plenty of memorable movies spanning a range of genres throughout his four-decade career in Hollywood, and now fans can stream one of his best. From playing terrorist-for-hire Castor Troy in Face/Off to the endearing treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates in the National Treasure franchise, the actor has commanded the screen and established himself as one of the biggest movie stars. Cage logged arguably his weirdest movie yet when he starred in a critically loved 2023 movie from A24, the studio behind other hits like Moonlight, Lady Bird, Uncut Gems, and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

That movie is Dream Scenario, director Kristoffer Borgli’s 2023 satirical comedy-drama that also stars Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula, and Dylan Baker. The movie began streaming on Tubi on September 1st alongside a long list of other titles from the Fox free streaming service’s September 2025 content list. In Dream Scenario, Cage stars as mild-mannered evolutionary biology professor Paul Matthews, whose life is turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. When things take a nightmarish turn, he is forced to navigate his newfound stardom.
Why You Should Watch Dream Scenario
There’s a lot to love about Dream Scenario, and Cage’s performance leads the list. The actor is well-loved for his more eccentric roles, but his portrayal of the unassuming Paul marks a departure from those past roles and a standout in his career. In stepping into the shoes of the ordinary and relatively unremarkable character and essentially disappearing into the role, Cage embarks on a meta-exploration of his own viral fame and helps anchor the film with an incredibly nuanced performance that showcases his acting range.
All in all, Dream Scenario is a wildly fun, weird, and thought-provoking movie that will stick with you long after the end credits roll. Introducing a truly unique and interesting premise, led by Borgli’s skillful direction, the movie secured a 91% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, earning it a “Certified Fresh” distinction and making it one of Cage’s highest-rated movies. The film holds a 69% audience rating, with some viewers left feeling the movie didn’t quite nail the ending.
Other Must-Watch Movies Now On Tubi
Dream Scenario is one of several films that movie lovers won’t want to miss on Tubi this month. The streamer’s September 2025 content lineup brought dozens of great films spanning numerous genres to the platform on September 1st. Some of the biggest additions include Call Me By Your Name, Pan’s Labyrinth, Scarface, Clueless, Mean Girls (2004), and Goodfellas. The lineup also features plenty of horror titles for Halloween, with new streaming options such as Crawl, Evil Dead (2013), Halloween (2018), and I Know What You Did Last Summer now streaming.
Tubi has already released its list of titles arriving in October 2025, giving viewers even more to look forward to. Next month, the Tubi library will add titles like The Day After Tomorrow, The Color Purple, Olympus Has Fallen, A League of Their Own, Jennifer’s Body, and the first two Legally Blonde movies.
