One of the Best Western Movies Ever Finds New Streaming Home (And It Has a Marvel Connection)

The golden age of the Western may have long passed, but that hasnโ€™t stopped Hollywood from putting out some great Western films in recent years. Films like Stagecoach, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and The Searchers helped define the Western genre and remain classics to this day. Nearly 20 years ago, Hollywood introduced another Western movie that is now considered a modern Western classic with surprising ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and it just found a new streaming home.

โ€œCertified Freshโ€ on Rotten Tomatoes with an 89% criticsโ€™ score, the 2007 3:10 to Yuma remake is available to stream on Peacock as of September 1st. The film is a remake of the 1957 Western classic of the same name and based on a 1953 short story by Elmore Leonard. The story centers on a moral battle of wills between Russell Croweโ€™s Ben Wade, a captured outlaw who terrorizes 1800s Arizona, and Christian Baleโ€™s Dan Evans, a war veteran turned rancher who volunteers to escort him to the train station, where heโ€™ll board a train to prison. The epic modern-day western was directed by James Mangold, who a decade later directed Marvelโ€™s Logan.

Why You Should Watch 3:10 To Yuma

With a $71 million worldwide gross total against a $55 million budget, 3:10 to Yuma wasnโ€™t the biggest box office success, but the movie was one of the best released in 2007 and remains one of the best Westerns of all time. An incredibly successful remake that added depth to the original story and characters, Mangoldโ€™s 3:10 to Yuma explores the line between right and wrong through the dynamic between its two central characters, presenting a film that is a character-focused story rather than a purely action-driven Western, meaning even viewers who arenโ€™t typically fans of Westerns can easily enjoy it.

We also canโ€™t speak about 3:10 to Yuma without mentioning the absolutely loaded cast. Crowe and Bale deliver powerhouse performances as the leads, the contrast between their characters creating an incredibly captivating dynamic. They are supported by a strong and star-studded cast that also includes Peter Fonda, Gretchen Mol, Ben Foster, Dallas Roberts, Alan Tudyk, Vinessa Shaw, and Logan Lerman. The star power alone is enough to warrant a watch of 3:10 to Yuma, and the gritty and intense action sequences and captivating character-driven story are reason to stick around.

New Movies Streaming on Peacock

3:10 to Yuma was one of several films that joined Peacockโ€™s streaming library in September. Peacock subscribers can now also stream other big hits like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Almost Famous, The Breakfast Club, October Sky, Reservoir Dogs, and The Sixth Sense.

Peacock isnโ€™t done growing its movie collection just yet. Even more great titles started streaming on October 1st, including The Crow, Edward Scissorhands, Ghostbusters, How to Train Your Dragon, and World War Z. Additional movies will continue to roll out throughout October, including the streaming premiere of the live-action How to Train Your Dragon film on October 10th.
