Rachel Keller has been cast as the female lead in FX's Legion, according to a report from Deadline. Keller's first major role was as femme fatale Simone Gerhardt in Season 2 of Fargo. Fargo creator Noah Hawley is working on Legion, and the report says he was so impressed with Keller's work on Fargo that he moved to cast her in the new X-Men universe TV project.
Legion is being developed by Hawley, Bryan Singer, Marvel Television, and FX Productions as one of two new X-Men cinematic universe TV shows. The story follows David Haller, based on the Marvel Comics character Legion. Legion is the son of Charles Xavier, a powerful mutant, and a diagnosed schizophrenic. Each of his personalities controls a different aspect of his mutant gifts.
Keller's character is said to be a 20-something girl who is scrappy and optimistic. Her character remains unnamed, and her powers are being kept secret, but rumor has it that they involve human touch.
Hayley wrote the pilot for Legion, and will serve as executive producer, along with X-Men film director Bryan Singer, producer Lauren Shuler Donner, and writer/producer Simon Kinberg, Marvel Television's Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory, John Cameron and Steve Blackman.0comments
