The CW have released a second poster in support of Arrow's upcoming third season -- and this one shows Oliver standing alone against the backdrop of a city in crisis.

The previous poster had featured supporting cast members, and partially obscured the scope of damage done to the city on the left-hand side of the poster, which includes skyscrapers on fire and what looks like a police helicopter in the sky.

Whether that's a tease of things to come or a memory of last year is somewhat unclear, though; obviously a key part of the season finale involved a helicopter launching missiles at the clocktower where Canary and Sin used to operate. The city appears largely undamaged on the right.

What makes it somewhat unclear is the caption, "Saving a city takes a toll," perhaps suggesting that Oliver stands alone here as a result of his mission and that his relationships will be taxed this year or members of Team Arrow endangered. That doesn't seem to jive with much of what we know about this year, though, where Roy is supposed to be more a part of the team, Oliver is business partners with Laurel and Felicity is "the woman in his life," whatever that means.

Where this poster does score is that it avoids some of the controversy raised yesterday by fans who took the positioning of the characters and/or their clothing to be symbolic, and so became upset when Laurel was closer to Oliver than Diggle and Roy.

Arrow returns on October 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
