In addition to the (non-) spoiler that Captain America manages to take down the Winter Soldier in the forthcoming sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Pain & Gain star Anthony Mackie shared some details about his upcoming appearance with Black Film, giving fans an idea of what to expect from the first African-American superhero when he joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "I'm happy to say that I'm in a good deal of the movie and I play an integral part with Captain America taking down the Winter Soldier," Mackie said. "It's great. They started the shoot two and a half weeks ago and once I finish doing press for Pain & Gain, I go in and join them. I've been doing combat training and fitness training just to get prepared. It's going to be something and I'm excited for it." Of course, like Nick Fury, Iron Man and Captain America himself, Falcon isn't quite as super as many of the heroes around him. Mackie said that the concept art we saw last week will be pretty indicative of the approach they're taking to the character. "They just released pictures of the costume last week. It's more of a military style tactical costume. He's more along the lines of Captain America as far as superhero as opposed to a true superhero," Mackie explained. He also told the interviewer that he'd never heard of Falcon before he got the call, but that once he'd seen the source material, he was sold. He said that the character was a cool superhero who represents a different demographic than most of the others, and that "we need that."
