In this exclusive clip of Dark Matter Season 2, Episode 10 entitled “Take the Shot,” Two (Melissa O’Neil) finds herself in serious trouble. The Syfy series, renewed by the network just yesterday for a third season, has played with multiple genres in the past, but this clip has the most classic horror feel to it that they’ve ever explored. With flickering lights, only one way communication available, and the sudden appearance of a whole cadre of baddies, it feels like showrunner Joseph Mallozzi must’ve been rewatching some classic 80s Sci-Fi Horror when working on this episode, or at least this scene. In fact, last episode also had a classic Sci-Fi Horror reference, giving the nod to Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

The official description of “Take the Shot” reads, “Shipboard mayhem sheds light on some of the crew members’ dark pasts.” That seems to imply that these strange guys have a direct connection to one of the members of the crew, maybe even to Two herself, resulting in her being targeted. Syfy.com has the additional information that “The Raza is plagued by dangerous and terrifying hallucinations… but is one of them to blame?” further increasing the intrigue.

With Two’s nanites failing as explained in the previous episode, it’s possible that these characters and hallucinations are some direct result of that, which would only spell more trouble for her and the crew of the Raza.

“From Prodigy Pictures and JosephMallozzi and PaulMullie (both of “Stargate”), Dark Matter centers on a crew who awaken on a derelict spaceship with no memories of who they are or how they got there. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage fueled by vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets. This season, the crew found themselves embroiled in an intergalactic conspiracy, seeking a mysterious device that may hold the key to victory in a looming all-out corporate war. Created by Mallozzi and Mullie, developed and produced by Prodigy Pictures, Dark Matter is based on Mallozzi and Mullie’s graphic novel of the same name, published by Dark Horse Comics. The series features Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr. and Jodelle Ferland with Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer. Executive Producers are Jay Firestone, Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.”

Dark Matter airs Fridays at 10 p.m.
