Spoiler Warning: If you’re not caught up on Game of Thrones Season 4, then be warned that this post contains a major spoiler for something that occurred during that season. Furthermore, it also contains a major spoiler for something that is going to happen in Season 5, according to one of the actors.
In the Game of Thrones Season 4 finale, Peter Dinklage’s character Tyrion Lannister killed his father Tywin Lannister, who is played by Charles Dance. Tyrion shot Tywin with a crossbow, and it occurred onscreen, so his death seemed pretty final.
However, in an interview MTV about Dracula Untold, Dance dropped a major spoiler about Game of Thrones Season 5. It turns out that Tywin will be back in the upcoming season.
“Well, I’m not completely missing from the next series. More on that, I’m not going to say. So, you haven’t seen the last of Tywin Lannister is all I’ll say,” said Dance.
Considering that Game of Thrones has stirred away from using flashbacks, does this mean that Tywin is set to return from the dead? It’s possible, but there are other more likely possibilities. It could be that Season 5 might open with a funeral scene, and Dance returns as Tywin’s corpse. It’s also possible that there might be some type of dream sequence, involving Tyrion being tormented by killing his father.
Game of Thrones Season 5 will air on HBO in 2015.
