Director James Gunn held an impromptu Q&A session using Twitter's Periscope streaming video service, and fielded questions about Marvel's cosmic sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Gunn revealed that casting, at least of an informal sort, has already begun, as he has been talking to a certain actor about playing a new member of the Guardians. He didn't reveal any details about the identity of the actor or the character.
Gunn also took the opportunity to, again, touch on the matter of Star-Lord's father. Gunn reiterated that he doesn't care of the character of J'Son of Spartax, Peter Quill's father in the Marvel Comics Universe, and felt that to use him in the movies would make the films too similar to Star Wars. Gunn remained tight-lipped about who would be filling in for J'Son in the movie universe.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 opens May 5, 2017.
