Recently, Pokemon Go players have been dealing with an annoying glitch that pops up while trying to catch a Pokemon. When you hit a wild Pokemon with a PokeBall, the game will freeze as soon as the Pokemon hits the ground. This leaves trainers in a state of panic and shock. Did you catch the Pokemon? Did the Pokemon get away? How long should I wait before resetting the game?
While the "freezing PokeBall" glitch doesn't have an easy fix, Pokemon Go players shouldn't panic. The glitch is a visual one only, the result of the PokeBall throw won't change whether the game freezes or not. To see if you caught the Pokemon or not, wait a few seconds to ensure that the game isn't lagging and then restart the game. When you get back into the game, check your journal (which can be found by clicking your player menu on the lower lefthand side) to see whether you caught the Pokemon or not.
According to testers on The Silph Road, a Pokemon Go subreddit, the "freezing PokeBall" glitch won't actually cause you to lose a Pokemon. It only seems to occur on your last PokeBall throw, meaning that the Pokemon would have run away if you didn't catch it.
If you game freezes and you didn't catch the Pokemon BUT your journal doesn't indicate that the Pokemon ran away, wait a few seconds as the Pokemon should pop up again momentarily.
The "freezing PokeBall" glitch is an annoyance, but it doesn't actually affect the results of the game. Hopefully, Niantic Labs will fix the glitch in the next update.
