Marvel Studios has promoted Victoria Alonso to executive vice president of physical production, Variety reports.

Alonso has long been executive producer and executive vice president of visual effects for Marvel. In her new role, she will oversee all physical production, post-production, and production technical operations. A vocal advocate for women in the effects industry, Alonso is one of the few women to ever hold the physical production chief position at a studio.

Alonso will take over the position from David Grant and Mitch Bell, who were sharing duties as vice presidents of physical production.

Alonso was a co-producer on Marvel's phase one movies, and has been an executive producer on every film since The Avengers. In 2013, she was invited to become a member-at-large of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
