In video interviews conducted by Disney/Lucasfilm just before and just after the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 on Friday evening, the younger stars of the film talked about what it's like taking on Star Wars, and the Comic-Con experience from their eyes.

"It felt kind of impromptu, in a way, like a bunch of people doing their own thing outside of the studio system," said Adam Driver about director J.J. Abrams' approach. The actor who plays villain Kylo Ren, also praised the "tactile" method of using a lot of real props and physical, practical effects.

Gwendoline Christie, who plays the "chrometrooper" as fans have dubbed her character Captain Phasma, said coming over to the convention center made it all real for her. "I had a moment when I was in the car coming over here where I realized I hadn't really... come on board that I was in Star Wars. I'm looking forward to not fainting in Hall H."

Domnhall Gleeson, whose character General Hux was revealed for the first time at the panel, said the Star Wars world has a special "magic" to it. "It's a huge honor and a little scary to take it on, yourself.

Meanwhile, the new young heroes of the film talked about the panel after-the-fact.

"I think sharing it - there was so much preparation time and introspection - but sharing it with everyone finally is the most special part of the whole thing," said Oscar Isaac, the film's dashing pilot Poe Dameron. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the film agreed.

"I think we have a chance to carry on a legacy, but at the same time go on our own adventure, obviously with our new characters. It's a great balance of both," teased John Boyega, who plays Finn, a Stormtrooper who appears to abandon his post.

All three were nearly as excited as the fans to see Harrison Ford walk out on stage. They went to the special concert after the panel, and were thrilled to show off the lightsabers they were given for it.

"Mine's green! Oo, controversial!" joked Ridley.
