Writer/Director James Gunn sat down with Lloyd Kaufman and discussed last year's blockbuster hit, Guardians of the Galaxy.

Gunn also weighed in on where he believes the film industry in general is headed.

"I think independent films are always going to exist but I think there will be fewer of them than there ever were before," Gunn said. "And in making independent films you have to be really good. Much better than I was when I was making independent films. You have to be the very best. That means there's going to be a smaller amount of people able to make a living from directing or writing or acting in independent films. You have to really make sure that's what you're good at. "

The director added, "Wanting to do it is not enough. You need hard work, more importantly you need talent. It's good for people to see what their talents are before they commit to any sort of occupation."

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to hit theaters May 5, 2017.
