Warning: Spoilers ahead for upcoming issues of Savage Dragon.
In a recently-released cover for Savage Dragon #208, due in stores in late 2015, creator Erik Larsen has teased a "final battle" with a fan-favorite villain.
Last chance to turn around before spoilers are your own fault.
That villain is Mister Glum, a pint-sized, other-dimensional dictator whose character is equal parts genuine threat and comedy relief.
That blend has always made him popular with many readers, so much so that Larsen sells a stuffed, nearly-"life-size" version of Mister Glum at comic book conventions.
The character has not played a major role in Savage Dragon in a while, although he was featured in a backup story in Savage Dragon #200.
Both Dragon and Malcolm Dragon have spoken in recent issues about a desire to "rescue" an alternate-universe version of Angel Dragon who lives with Glum as his girlfriend.
The "in final battle" caption could easily still end with the character still alive -- but it's less likely in Savage Dragon, particularly with a character who hasn't had a main-story appearance in 30 issues -- than it would be in most other superhero books.
Savage Dragon: Legacy, Image Comics' Free Comic Book Day offering, will be available to fans at comic book retailers everywhere on Saturday.
