With production on the seventh season recently wrapped, the stars have begun speaking about the series’ impending end and how all the storylines are converging.
“I’m just in awe of how everybody’s managing to fit as much as there is into seven episodes,” Grey Worm actor Jacob Anderson told Mashable, “because it doesn’t necessarily feel like a normal season, it feels bigger.”
The protracted season will consist of seven episodes instead of the usual ten, but they won’t be any less grandiose than what’s already aired.
“It’s gonna be a crazy season,” said Alfie Allen, who portrays Theon Greyjoy. “It’s definitely going to blow a lot of people’s minds.”
Pressed for further details, he revealed the world of Westeros gets even smaller as the show reaches its endgame.
“It’s still the same running theme; characters that haven’t crossed each other’s paths before will do, and they’re gonna take it even further this time,” Allen said. “People have loyalties that they have to examine.”
Davos Seaworth actor Liam Cunningham echoed these sentiments, alluding that the actors will have just as hard a time with the series’ end as the diehard fans.
“Because we know we’re coming to an end, and… what we’ve been filming in Season 7—without giving anything away, things are coming to a head, so not only do we feel the passage of time … that’s also been reflected in what we’re shooting,” Cunningham said.
Anderson added that the feeling of finality carries from the sixth season on through.
“It’s all getting a bit much,” Anderson said. “The show’s kind of like a pressure cooker … It’s just absolute chaos.”
Game of Thrones‘ seventh season is scheduled to begin airing episodes on HBO sometime this summer.
