After last night’s episode of The Walking Dead, “Thank You,” we’re all left with one big question on our minds (spoilers ahead): Is Glenn still alive?

While most signs point to yes, it is difficult to imagine he would’ve survived beneath a massive, relentless horde walkers. Glenn was not mentioned on Talking Dead‘s In Memoriam segment and showrunner Scott Gimple issued a statement saying we will see “Some form” of Glenn again.

While there’s always the possibility Glenn is dead and will return as a walker, we’re going to be optimistic, and hope he is around to deliver just one more pizza.

He’s Camouflaged

Walker guts have been used as camouflage in the past. Glenn knows this first hand.ย Don’t forget season one.ย

It’s most likely the walkers are devouring Nicholas’ cowardly body, which lay on top of Glenn, and he is surviving beneath. Though, one could argue, Nicholas’ blood is still fresh and would make Glenn an even more delectable treat to the undead.ย

Blood and guts covering Glenn may be his best bet though. There may be a reason Nicholas’ blood spattered all over his face like it did.

He’s Hiding Under The Dumpster

The top of the dumpster was locked but maybe Glenn worked his way underneath the big metal box to isolate himself while the walkers were fixated on their hearty meal which is Nicholas.

If he is, in fact, under the dumpster someone could come along and distract the herd eventually. It’s doubtful any walkers would be nimble enough to get under there.

He Uses His Flare Gun

Glenn should still have a flare gun from the plan with Rick.

Whether he uses his flare to gun to call for help or to distract the walkers, it is still a viable reason for hope and a useful tool to help him out of the scenario.

Rick might be a little preoccupied but Michonne and Heath are not too far away to see the signal for help.

Someone Saves Him

We’ve been expecting the arrival of Jesus ever since Tom Payne was cast for the role. Maybe he comes a bit earlier than expected and helps wipe out the walker horde to free Glenn from his imminent peril.

It doesn’t have to be Jesus. It could be Wolves. It could be Negan. It could be a band of strangers Glenn will ultimately lead back to Alexandria. If any character deserves a little good karma, it’s Glenn.

Whisperers

whisperers

One interesting theory brought to my attention was the Whisperers save Glenn.

Though, it doesn’t seem likely the horde is actually whisperers, seeing as they were quite graphically chowingย down on some intestines, it’s not impossible the whisperers are among the horde or nearby and will help Glenn out of the predicament.

(Bigย spoilersย for the comics follow)

For those who don’t know, the Whisperers are a group of living humans who cover themselves in walkers guts, skin, and faces to allow for walking amongst the undead. They whisper to each other as not to attract attention. The group doesn’t become a factor until much later in the series, according to the comics.

A brainwashed Glenn, forced into becoming a Whisperer, would certainly fit the “Some form,” of Glenn alluded to by Gimple.
