Norman Reedus & Robert Kirkman

The biggest news of the most recent Emmy Awards nominations has been the show that was mostly overlooked. The Walking Dead is the top rated show on cable television, but it only garnered nominations for Outstanding Interactive Program and Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series, Miniseries, Movie Or A Special. Many believed The Walking Dead also deserved nominations for Oustanding Drama Series and in several of the actor and actress categories. For years, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been snubbing comic book movies when it comes to Oscar nominations. Could it be that The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has a thing against comic book TV shows? Here's what one of the shows stars and The Walking Dead creator had to say. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Norman Reedus was asked about the Emmy snub. Norman Reedus said, "Yeah, what's up with that? I mean that seems pretty weird…It's kind of the same shows that get nominated every year, right? And I think a lot of that is we need these three people within this twenty minute time to be on that stage, talking in that mic, because we're going to sell these commercials, and I think it has a lot to do with that, to be honest." Reedus added, "There's a lot of good shows, and there's a lot of good actors. It becomes a popularity contest I think in some ways. If you can get those three guys up there and that girl, smile and cut to commercial, make the money, make the money, get them back up, I think it has something to do with it. But then that being said all the shows that won I really liked." As far as what Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman thought of the Emmy snub, Philly.com has a quote from Kirkman's response from Comic-Con. Robert Kirkman said, "I'll take the ratings, I think is what I usually say." Kirkman also added that there are a lot of fantastic shows on right now.
