Fan Theory Says Lord Drakkon Could Be Villain Of Power Rangers 25th-Anniversary Special
This year will be the Power Rangers' 25th anniversary, and Saban is supposedly planning something [...]
The Evidence
If Lord Drakkon was to make his live-action debut, he would have to be played by Jason David Frank. Seriously, fans would revolt otherwise.
As for Frank, he is all about Lord Drakkon, as he indicated in an interview with That Hashtag Show.
"It is (amazing). It's funny because you guys gave me another character, Lord Drakkon," Frank said. "Just another one under my, which I've added to my Power Ranger universe, like 5 and now I say Lord Drakkon (6), which is amazing. Kyle wrote it. I talked to Kyle last night, I talk to Kyle all the time."
Frank is also aware of the 25th anniversary rumors, and he has said he would love to be a part of whatever Saban has planned.
"The reunion episode was eh, all right, we saved it with the Green Ranger Bat in the Sun, but you know with the Ninja Steel, I know there are a lot of helmets, and I wish I could be part of it," Frank added.
He couldn't confirm anything, but he did say, "I think just with the cameo in the movie, doing the movie, and Saban's always got tricks up their sleeve, so I'm not saying, I can't confirm that, but just watching the Japanese footage and seeing things that, my character's always alive in there, no matter what."
Saban has also made a big push for Lord Drakkon. The character has quickly made it from the books to their all-inclusive mobile title Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, which includes Rangers and villains from all eras of the franchise.
Saban also made Lord Drakkon the official exclusive figure of Power Morphicon in 2018, and that is where they would announce a 25th-anniversary reunion special if it does happen.
So, who is Lord Drakkon exactly? Glad you asked and hit the next slide to learn more.
Lord Drakkon
Lord Drakkon was introduced in BOOM! Studios' run of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics, and has quickly risen to become a fan favorite.
So, spoilers obviously for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. If you haven't read it, you've been warned.
That popularity is easy to understand once you know who Lord Drakkon is. At one point Billy Cranston and Tommy Oliver end up stranded in another dimension, away from the rest of the group. They see a dilapidated Angel Grove, and soon realize they are in the Dark Universe, ruled by Lord Drakkon.
The kicker is that Lord Drakkon is a Ranger himself, and is soon revealed to be Tommy Oliver. He rules this universe with an iron fist and contains immense power. That's because he has access to the Green and White Ranger abilities, thanks to his cleaning house of the Power Rangers and their Zords. Several Rangers have fallen when Billy and Tommy get there, and the ones that are left have had their Power Coins taken.
If premise does make it to the small screen, they could even introduce Drakkon's sentries, all of which hold the Ranger colors with more militaristic traits and elements. Drakkon also has a Zord called the Black Dragon Zord, and it is likely it would also make an appearance if Drakkon actually makes the episode.
It could be epic, but only time will tell if Saban actually decides to do it.
