As the PR campaign for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story continues its slow build-up, Lucasfilm Wednesday unveiled a brand-new vehicle that will be seen in the film, the U-Wing, shown in the brand-new still from the film above. Revealing the vehicle, a mixture of a starfighter and a troop transport on The Star Wars Show, they gave a few details about it, courtesy of Matt Martin from the Star Wars Story Group.

“The U-Wing is a new ship in the Star Wars universe. It’s a troop transport and gunship,” Martin explained. “So it’s there to bring in Rebel troops to heavy fire zones and get out as quickly as possible. The wings move depending on the situation, and it’s there to both drop off troops and provide air support.”

The full name of the U-Wing is the Incom UT-60D, he also revealed.

Interestingly, while this is the official unveiling of the U-Wing, it was actually already seen by thousands of fans. When the first piece of Rogue One concept art was shown at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in 2015, it featured the U-Wing, dropping off Rebel Alliance troops in a rainy scene.

The new U-Wing joins classic vehicles in the film like the X-wings, but also new variations on the Imperial Shuttle, the AT-AT walker, and new troopers like the Shoretrooper and Death Trooper.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tells the tale of how the Rebel Alliance won their first major victory against the Empire and stole the Death Star plans, as originally mentioned in the opening crawl of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. The film hits theaters December 16, 2016.
