The seventh season of The Walking Dead started off on a dour note, but the midseason finale ended on a hopeful note. Rick is out of his grief-stricken stupor and ready to fight Negan. To increase his odds of winning, we see him — along with Michonne, Carl, Tara, and Rosita — head to Hilltop. There, he and his group are greeted warmly by Jesus and are reunited with Maggie, Sasha, Enid, and, of course, Daryl.
While we wait for the hit show to return in two months, AMC has released a second sneak peek from the midseason premiere. It picks up right after Rick and his squad presumably met with Gregory, Hilltop's current and cowardly leader. They discuss the coming war on Negan and plan on going right back to Alexandria, as they assume Negan will return once he discovers Daryl has escaped, but Jesus has one of the Savior's long-range walkie talkies, so they don't need to rush back.
What should they do if they aren't headed back to Alexandria? Well, Jesus would like to introduce them to the Kingom and its leader: King Ezekiel!
