The Walking Dead: Jon Bernthal Gets Candid About Shane & Lori’s Sex Scene

It has been awhile since Shane Walsh has been a part of The Walking Dead, but the character is still well remembered by fans. The character, who was played by Jon Bernthal, acted as Rick Grimes’ friend and rival as the two were once police officers. After their world became plagued by undead monsters, Rick was left comatose in a hospital while Shane went off with his partner’s wife and son. Of course, fans know that Shane grew a little too close to Rick’s wife Lori, and now Bernthal is speaking candidly about his character’s talked about sex scene with Lori.

In a recent interview with GQ, Bernthal opened up about his acting approach and several key moments from his career. The Walking Dead was mentioned in passing, but what Bernthal said will surely shock some fans. The actor admitted his character’s sex scene with Lori took place very soon after he was cast as Shane Walsh. Bernthal said he had only met Sarah Wayne Callies when the two were asked to ‘get it on’ in the woods.

“When I got The Walking Dead. The actress Sarah Wayne Callies and I had just met, and basically our first scene together was having sex in the woods,” he said.

Continuing, Bernthal got a bit NSFW as he talked about how he wanted to ad-lib one element of his sex scene to make it more primal.

“I had this idea that when we met in the woods, I should turn Sarah over. We’re in a zombie apocalypse. It’s carnal,” he said. “We just want to f**k, you know? And I hear calling from behind the monitors: ‘Stop thrusting!’”

The torrid sex scene headed to television shortly after The Walking Dead debuted. Of course, Shane would not last for long; The character was dead by the end of Season 2 after Rick and he had a showdown.

The official synopsis for Season 7 of The Walking Dead lies below:

Other characters are unaware of what’s happened, but have become separated from the group either by incident or choice — they will learn that they can’t escape this new turn of their world, either. This half season is about these characters starting over.

The overall theme of the season is beginning again. The world isn’t what they thought it was. It’s bigger and it’s even more dangerous.”
