One streaming service’s loss is another’s gain. Amid a shuffling of content that occurs every month as the major streaming platforms bring subscribers new titles and get rid of a few others, a hit comedy from Mike Schur just joined Prime Video’s streaming lineup on the same day it left another major platform. The Amazon streamer swiped all four seasons of the beloved comedy from the rival streamer as part of its September 2025 content lineup.

The same day that The Good Place left Netflix on September 26th, all four seasons of the beloved sitcom began streaming on Prime Video. Created by Michael Schur, the name behind other hit sitcoms like Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place aired on NBC from 2016 to 2020 throughout a four-season run that cemented its place as sitcom gold. The series stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop, a self-absorbed and corrupt saleswoman who winds up in the afterlife’s Good Place due to an error. Determined to remain there, she works to shed her old way of life to become a better person. Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and D’Arcy Carden also star.
Why You Should Watch The Good Place
The Good Place consistently ranks among the best sitcoms of all time, and for good reason. Peak binge-worthy TV, with each episode leaving you coming back for more, the series is equal parts high-concept philosophy and laugh-out-loud comedy with a stellar cast that portrays a range of characters who are impossible not to love. Led by a character-driven storyline that explores what it means to be a good person, the importance of community, and personal growth, The Good Place is an extremely compelling show that features plenty of emotional depth – not to mention plenty of shocking twists.
All of that added up to a cult favorite show that is equally loved by critics and audience members. The series holds average Rotten Tomatoes critic and audience ratings of 97% and 90%, respectively, making it a critical darling. It even managed to grab two perfect 100% critics scores for Seasons 2 and 4, and all four seasons hold the coveted “Certified Fresh” distinction. Only a single season of the series dropped below a 90% audience score, with Season 3 just missing that mark at 88%.
New TV Shows Streaming on Prime Video
The Good Place is not the only TV show newly streaming on Prime Video. Along with dozens of hit movies, the Amazon streamer’s September 2025 lineup rolled out several iconic TV series. Perhaps most exciting is that all five seasons of Friday Night Lights, Peter Berg’s football drama is now streaming on the platform, marking the first time the series has been available on a major streaming platform in a long while.
Another big September addition is Season 2 of Amazon’s The Boys spinoff Gen V. The superhero series returned with three new episodes on September 17th, with new episodes set to continue airing weekly on Wednesdays through October 22nd. The show is one of several Amazon original series to drop in September, with others like The Runarounds, The Girlfriend, and Dish It Out also now streaming.
