Yesterday, Kick-Ass writer Mark Millar teased forward motion on the long-in-development sequel to the movie’s film version by tweeting a link to a Facebook page ostensibly in support of Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, but which appears to be a dead link.
That didn’t stop the comics media from hunting and pecking around until we found the film’s official logo, though, posted to Facebook account originally associated with the first film. Bleeding Cool had the image yesterday and, while ComicBook.com hasn’t yet been able to confirm its point of origin on Facebook, a number of other news outlets have picked it up and run with it as well and Millar has made no effort to quash them, so it seems to be on the level.
The film seems to revolve around a lot of the characters’ personal drama, with Kick-Ass’ secret identity being revealed to “someone important” and Hit-Girl’s being widely enoguh known to create distractions at school, both with the local “mean girls” and, presumably, with school officials.
Production on the film–based on the Kick-Ass 2 and Hit-Girl miniseries by Millar and his co-creator John Romita, Jr.–is slated to begin soon, starring Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse and newcomer John Leguizamo. They’re shooting for a late 2013 release date for the film, which Millar has reportedly said will have an NC-17 rating.
