'Justice League': Aquaman's Secret Role In 'Man Of Steel' Confirmed

Justice League will setup the a much bigger future for the DC Films Universe, but some fans are more obsessed with the connections that are found in the cinematic universe's past.

One long-running DFU fan theory has involved a possible crossover between Superman and Aquaman that occurred long before the events of Justice League - and now Aquaman actor Jason Mamoa has officially confirmed it!

Speaking with DC All Access during the Justice League press tour, Mamoa revealed that Zack Snyder actually made the 'Aquaman saved Superman' fan theory from Man of Steel's first an official part of Aquaman's backstory! As the actor describes:

"I'll give you a cool little thing that's not in this movie, but that Zack told me for 'Aquaman.' In 'Man of Steel' when Henry [Cavill] is saving the oil rig and he's holding that up, and all of a sudden he kind of floats up on the ocean, he's [Zack] like 'I had Aquaman save him so that they did cross paths at one point.' So then when Bruce goes 'You ever heard of... Superman?' I have met him and we hae crossed paths."

That confirmation may not be a moment we ever see onscreen in the DC Films Universe, but it's definitely a cool Easter egg that DC fans will be thrilled to hear is now canon.

As Cyborg actor Ray Fisher adds, the connectivity of DC's movies may be subtle, but is sound. Fisher further exemplifies the cool connections by referencing the Batman v Superman football match between Gotham and Metropolis, in which Gotham gets crushed, due to the loss of quarterback Vic Stone - who was on his way to becoming Cyborg at the time.

So now it's settled: Man of Steel has an Aquaman Easter egg. Are there any other DC Films connections you've been waiting to see confirmed as official canon? Let us know @ComicbookNow.

Justice League will be in theaters on November 17th.
