Rapper Robert Matthew Van Winkle, better known by his stage name, Vanilla Ice, dropped by the premiere of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows in Madison Square Garden and performed his “Ninja Rap” song from 1991’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. He was joined on stage by a quartet of dancers wearing the original Turtle suits.
For those of you that haven’t seen the 1991 film, Vanilla Ice actually makes an appearance. He’s the club performer that appears to come up with “Ninja Rap” off the top his head after witnessing the Turtles battle Tokka and Rahzar within the club. The clubgoers assume the fight was just part of a performance, not giving the mutant Turtles a second thought.
Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to theaters this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is directed by Dave Green and stars: Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Brad Garrett, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Stephen Amell, Tyler Perry, Brian Tee, Laura Linney, Sheamus, and Gary Anthony Williams.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will land in theaters June 3, 2016.
