Adam West To Debut His Batman-Inspired Art At Upcoming Exhibit

Holy Art Exhibit, Batman! It looks like Adam West is gearing up to debut a slew of Batman-inspired pieces at an upcoming exhibit. According to Idaho Mountain Express, the iconic actor will show off his artwork at ‘Criminals on Canvas’ when the exhibit goes live at Gilman Contemporary.

In the last 50 years, West has been busy with art and keeping up-to-date on all of Gotham’s affairs. The actor is now ready to share the fruits of his labor at ‘Criminals on Canvas,’ and West could not be more excited. The event will feature his original artwork as well as new prints of various characters from the original Batman TV show. The prints depict actual heroes and villains from the show along with a few new creations from West.

“I decided to kind of do an homage to the show and all the wonderful stars and characters we had,” West said about the show.

If you are wanting to check out the exhibit, then you should know it goes live on December 21. West will attend the opening reception, and fans will even have a chance to buy some of the actor’s art that evening.

“Batman was a colorful and wild ride. My paintings capture the humor, zaniness and depth of the Batman villains as well as the Freudian motivations of Batman as an all-too-human, venerable and funny vigilante superhero,” West said, describing how the show has influenced his art. “My art, like my acting, is a profound expression of poetic license.”

So far, West has kept a good number of his pieces hidden from the world, but he has teased fans about what they should expect. The actor has said his artwork is as absurd and even satirical as his Bruce Wayne from Batman TV series.

“Laughter is a genuine emotion—I love to make people laugh,” he explained. “I think art should move people, even if it moves them to laughter.”

Fans are definitely glad to hear that West has not totally abandoned his Gotham roots. The actor’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne was one which thousands of fans grew up on, and the campy TV series was one of the first wildly popular live-action adaptations of the DC hero. Nowadays, Batman has become a household name as Warner Bros. continues to thread the hero into various films and animated series.

As for West, he seems content to relive his Batman glory days through paint, but he would not be averse to suit up for old time’s sake. Recently, West’s on-screen sidekick Burt Ward told our site the pair would definitely do another live-action film as Batman and Robin. And, not long ago, West told ComicBook.com he would be willing to do a cameo for Ben Affleck’s Batman movie if the latter wanted him on set.
